The Arlington Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Departments were called out at about 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19th. The units were called to the scene of a one-car accident about four miles east of Arlington on Highway 30.

A car, bearing Dodge County license plates, was apparently going east on Highway 30 at the curve where the railroad tracks run beside the highway. Tire tracks indicate the car may have gone off the south side of the highway into the soft shoulder. Skid marks indicated that the car came back onto the highway and then crossed over and went off the north side. At the point where the car left the north side of the highway, there is a concrete culvert and a drop of about ten feet. The car cleared the culvert and then rolled over several times before coming to a stop in the field.

The Rescue Squad found one male dead when they arrived. A second person was taken to the Dodge County Hospital.

Washington County Attorney, Darvid Quist, released the name of the victim as being Leonard M. Larsen, Jr., also of Fremont. The younger Mr. Larsen is undergoing treatment at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Mr. Quist stated that they still had not determined who was the driver of the vehicle.

(In this account, it is difficult to tell whether the younger Mr. Larsen, Jr., was the victim of the crash or the one who was taken to the hospital for treatment.)
