Thomas “Bud” Griffin, 82

Thomas “Bud” Griffin, 82, formerly of Tekamah, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Lake City, Fla. VA Hospital following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 26, 1917, at the family farm in the Crawford community.

He served with the United States Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, stringing wire in communications.

He was also a police officer in Cherry County and worked on road construction.

Following retirement and moving to Florida, he lived on a houseboat which he built and anchored at Lake Okeechobee.

He later purchased a home at Morriston, Fla.

Griffen was a life member of the Tekamah VFW and Burt County Museum.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Ruth of Florida and Tom and Lou of Ames, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dick Nordstrom of Blair and Irene “Snookie” Griffen of Florida; sister, Mary Jane Donnelson of Tekamah; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, brother and great-granddaughter.
