Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, at Community Presbyterian Church in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, for Besse Emily Griffis, 75, who died July 28, 1990, at her home. Rev. Barrie Gray, Rev. Joseph Cejka and Rev. Larry Boyd officiated. Burial was in Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

Besse Emily Griffis was born August 17, 1914, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She moved to Lake Havasu City 18 years ago from Mondamin, Iowa.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the London Bridge Republican Women’s Club and the Havasu Samaritan Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, J. Carroll.

She is survived by her husband, Carroll Griffis of Lake Havasu City; a daughter, Barbara Campbell of Lake Havasu City; a granddaughter, Pamela J. Campbell, Lake Havasu City; a brother, Walter Gillette of Sac City, Iowa; step-brothers, Walter Goodrich of Omaha and Paul Goodrich of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters, Eleanor Harvey of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Edith Guhl of Lyons, Nebraska; Merry Echo Metcalf of Dix Hills, New York; and Esther Smith of North Carolina.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Havasu or to the memorial fund at Community Presbyterian Church.
