Marjorie R. Ward, 83

Marjorie R. Ward, 83, of Laurel, died Aug. 21, 2004, at Premier Estates Senior Living Community in Wayne.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 25, at the United Methodist Church in Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel Cemetery.

Visitation is from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Laurel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

Marjorie R (Fegley) Ward was born June 25, 1921, on a farm near Allen to Irvin and Hazel (Allen) Fegley. She was a graduate of Allen High School. After graduating, she cared for her grandparents, Jim and Olive Allen.

On Dec. 18, 1940, she married Harold “Tiny” Ward at the Methodist Church in Allen. The couple farmed near Laurel all their married life and retired in 1977.

Mrs. Ward was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Laurel where she served as choir director for many years. She was a member of Miriam Chapter No. 175 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was Worthy Grand Matron of Nebraska from 1985-1986. She worked as a volunteer at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and, most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; one son and daughter-inn-law, Regg and Mary Ann Ward of Laurel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharlene and Dr. Herbert Coulter of Blair, and Anita and Martin Zierott of Murdock; six grandchildren and their spouses; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Wyant of Sioux City, Iowa; a half-sister, June Thilo of Sioux City, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Coulter; half-sister, Bonnie Brewer; and brothers-in-law, Walter Wyant and Bob Thilo.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.

Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
