Funeral services for Russell A. Ward, 88, of Herman, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Herman Legion Hall. Interment will be at the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Ward died on Sunday, Aug. 13, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Russell A. Ward was born on Dec. 21, 1911, in Blair to Norris and Metta (Millrons) Ward. He attended the Rosehill School.

On June 20, 1940, he married Arlene Johnson in Papillion.

Ward retired from Kelly Ryan Equipment Company after more than 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Ward of Herman, Don and Doretha Ward of Blair; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Lawrence Case of Herman, Mary and Al Burnside of Carter Lake, Iowa, Bonnie and Ken Gradoville of Plattsmouth, Linda Savage of Carter Lake, Cathy and Dave DeBolt, also of Carter Lake, Sandy and Allan Love of Blair, Peggy and James Ahrens, and Patty and Brian Johnson, all of Oakland, 32 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Petersen, Hixon, Tenn., and a brother and sister in law, Merle and Ellen Ward of Herman.
