Randall "Randy" L. Blattert, 73

Randall "Randy" L. Blattert, 73, of Wakefield, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.

Randall "Randy" L. Blattert was born on February 19, 1939, in Stanton to Lawrence and Irene (Schulz) Blattert.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960, serving two years in Germany during the "Cold War".

He farmed from 1961 to 1981. He went to work for Terra Express in 1982 until his retirement in 2010.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and VFW Post 5765.

Mr. Blattert enjoyed deer hunting, target shooting, working on guns and spending time with his German Shepherd dog. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Angela of Wakefield; son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Kristen Blattert of Blair; a daughter, Kerilyn Blattert of Columbus; two grandchildren from Blair; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mardelle and Will Wiseman of Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
