John Gregerson Buried July 13th

John Edwin Gregerson was born August 28, 1907 at Irvington, Nebraska, to the late Chris and Christina Mordhorst Gregerson. He grew to manhood in the Ft. Calhoun vicinity and was graduated from the Ft. Calhoun High School in 1925. He was married on April 26, 1939, at Blair, Nebr., to Hazel Christenson. To this union, two children were born, Larry J. of Herman, and Mrs. Daniel (Marcia) Denny, of Omaha.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church of Herman and served on the Church Board many years. He was a Past Master of Landmark Lodge No. 222 A. F. and A.M. at Herman; Past High Priest of Mackey Chapter No. 24 of the Royal Arch Masons in Tekamah; a member of Jordan Commanders No. 15 Knights Templar of Blair; and a member of Omaha Council No. 1 of Omaha, Nebraska. Also a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 216 of Herman; and a Past Associate Guardian of Bethel No. 56 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters at Tekamah.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend of all who knew him. He instilled his love and devotion of the land into his children and was delighted to see the same interest growing in his grandchildren. Farming was his business, and he kept himself informed with the fast changing and modern methods.

He passed away July 9 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha after two years of failing health.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rosalie Gregerson and his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Daniel Denney. Also 2 grandchildren Beth and Timothy Gregerson, and one brother, Fred of Bennington and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held on July 13 from the Herman American Legion Hall with the Rev Wm. Whittaker officiating. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Landmark No. 222 of Herman. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary of Blair, Nebraska. Nephews serving as pallbearers were Jean Gregerson, Robert Christensen, Milton Nelson, Jeffrey Chapman, James Christensen, and Terry Christensen.
