George E. Green, age 60, of Herman, passed away early on Tuesday morning, June 28th, 1988, at Herman after a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 31st, 1928 at Gallatin, Missouri to Forest and Alma (Koch) Green. He was married to Anna M. Anderson on December 14th, 1944, at Tekamah, Nebraska. Mrs. Green passed away on July 11th, 1983.

George worked as a mechanic in area filling stations for a number of years and also drove truck for Weavers and worked for Burt County Coop for many years. George was a long-time active member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, having been Fire Chief for several years.

Survivors include two sons: Thomas Green and Michael Green of Chula Vista, California; one brother, Delbert (Brady) Green of Herman and one sister, Mary Wright of Foxholm, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Shelly Wheeler of Grand Forks, North Dakota; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 1st, 1988, at the Herman American Legion Hall with Rev. Larry G. Orvis officiating. Interment was in the Herman Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
