Joe Green, Jr., 54

Services for Joe Green, Jr., 52 of Arlington who died at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont August 4, 1991, were Wednesday, August 7, at the Arlington City Auditorium. Rev. Dave Belt of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church officiated.

Military graveside services were conducted by members of the Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and American Legion Post at Prairie View Cemetery in Washington, Nebraska.

Joe Green, Jr. was born June 18, 1937, at Anselmo, Nebraska. He grew up at Anselmo and moved to Sargent, Nebraska in 1951, graduating from high school there. He moved to Arlington in 1959.

He was a truck dispatcher for 26 years at Bell Creek, Inc. at Arlington and for the last two years he worked for MIHM Oil and Transportation from his home at Arlington. He was also a cattleman at Arlington.

He was a member of the Arlington VFW and the Arlington American Legion. He served in the United States Marine Corps from July, 1957, to July, 1959.

He married Sylvia Sass Green January 21, 1961, at Bennington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira J. and Katherine Powers Green and two brothers, Donald Green and William Green.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; a son, David Green of Arlington; daughters, Pam (Mrs. Scott) Hamre and Peggy (Mrs. Larry) Voss, both of Arlington and Denise Green and Suzanne Green, both at home; brothers, Dale Green of Sargent; sisters, Betty (Mrs. John) Neville of Kearney, Veronica (Mrs. Harold) Englert of North Platte and Monica (Mrs. Dewayne) Weaver of Fremont and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Leroy Laaker, Gordon Stork, Duane Thompson, Harold Meyer, Ron Switzer and Charles Chappelear.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Mihm, Don Ludwigson, Lee Perkins, Richard Brown, Ray Hilgenkamp, Raymond Pfeiffer, Ray Switzer and Rex Cushman.

Helen Hilgenkamp was organist. Mary Grefe was soloist.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
