Mrs. Gray Dead At 81

Former Blair And Fremont Resident Died In California Saturday

Mrs. Retta Gray, 81, former Blair resident and widow of A. F. (Frank) Gray, died Saturday night at her home in Burlingame, Calif.

Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday at Burlingame, and burial is to be in Blair Cemetery next Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Bendorf Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Gray, as Retta Sutherland, daughter of Abram and Elizabeth Sutherland, was born in the Sutherland district near Blair Aug. 30, 1872, and spent most of her life in the Blair community.

She and Mr. Gray were married Oct. 10, 1894. They lived in Omaha three years while Mr. Gray worked with the Omaha Street Railway Co., then moved to a farm near Blair. After leaving the farm, they came to Blair, where Mr. Gray, a former Blair city councilman died at Fremont Apr. 24, 1939.

Mrs. Gray and her daughter, Dorothy, moved to California several years ago.

Surviving the ex-Blairite besides her daughter are three sisters, Mrs. James P. Mullin (Adda) of Blair, Mrs. O. P. Merrill (Amy) of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. E. N. Sandilands (Lynn) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
