Archie Graybill, 75

Archie Graybill, 75, of rural Blair, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Valley View Cemetery in Persia, Iowa.

Archie Arthur Graybill was born March 25, 1925, to Albert Lee Graybill and Gladys Nadene Campbell, in Persia, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Persia on November 1, 1953.

He graduated from Neola High School in May 1942. He entered the U.S. Army on February 7, 1944, and was discharged on February 16, 1946.

He farmed in the Persia area until spring 1951. He moved to Omaha to sell insurance and be co-owner of a construction company.

On June 28, 1952, he married Joyce E. Schneekloth in Bennington.

He farmed in Iowa until 1966, then moved to Omaha. He became a garage door/operator installer, starting his own business in 1975. This was also the year he returned to farming and, at the time of his death, was making plans for the year 2000 crop planting.

He was a life member of Blair, VFS; Persia, Iowa American Legion Post #0314; Blair Fraternal Order of Eagles and 40 et 8.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dave Pares of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Paul Graybill of Agoura Hills, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Emmons of Neola, Iowa, and Eileen Marr of Persia, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Lois Graybill of Council Bluffs, Iowa; mother and father-in-law, Fern and Arthur Schneekloth of Fremont; four grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of friends.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society of World War II Memorial, Washington. D. C.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
