William T. Elwell, 86, died Oct. 8, 2001, in Encinitas, Calif.

William Thomas Elwell was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Meadville, Penn.

During World War II, he served in the Army, with three years spent in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Following the war, he became an accountant.

In 1953, he married former Blair resident, Alice Jensen Elwell, and they lived in southern California, where Mr. Elwell was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, and the couple traveled together extensively.

After almost 50 years together, Mrs. Elwell died just three months earlier than her husband.

Mr. Elwell is survived by his niece, Charlotte (Rhoades) Glinski, and four nephews, Kenneth Rhoades, Mick Jensen, John Jensen, and Curtis Jensen, all of Blair.

A private memorial service will be held Nov. 21, when Mr. and Mrs. Elwell will be buried in the Ed and Amy Jensen family plot at the Blair Cemetery.
