Leslie Dale Kephart, 67

Leslie Dale Kephart, 67, of Omaha, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Leslie "Dale" Kephart was born March 15, 1945, to Melvin and Carrie (Madsen) Kephart. When he was three, the family moved to Fort Calhoun where he attended school.

He worked as a cement finisher with the Local Union 538 his entire life.

He married Mary Bolton in 1964 and the couple had four children, Penny, Jefferey, Justin and Leslie. In 1988, he married Verna Stacy and they adopted two children, Steven and Bonnie.

He loved spending time with his family. He especially loved being at “The Cabin” on the Missouri River. His love of music and guitar, which started at the age of 13, had him playing lead guitar and entering contests and made him very well-known around the area. He enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes.

He is survived by his wife, Verna; five children: Penny and Gregg Lorenzen of Tekamah, Les and Cristina Kephart of Blair, and Justin, Steven and Bonnie Kephart, all of Omaha; stepchildren: Jerry Carson of Florida, Joe Carson of Omaha and Kim Franco of La Vista; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Harold Kephart and special friend, Wanda, and Eugene Allen, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Victor Kephart and Vinton and Norma Kephart, all of Tekamah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jefferey; grandson, Ian; brother, Jim: and sister, Barbara Nielsen.
