J.W. Emory received a telegram on Saturday, June 13th, that his son, Frank, was dead in San Francisco and the body would be sent here for burial. It was expected every day but did not arrive until yesterday morning and the funeral was held at the Emory home on east Lincoln street at 3:30 in the afternoon, Rev. D.M. Sayles officiating. Death occurred June 11th while on the way to the Central Hospital in San Francisco. A coroner’s inquest was held and also an autopsy, the verdict being that the cause of death was unknown. Frank had served five years in Uncle Sam’s army, three years of that time in the Philippines, and since his discharge last August he was working in Frisco. Mr. Emory is very much broken up over the sad occurrence, partially because of the mystery that hovers over it. Besides the father, deceased leaves one brother, Charles, who arrived from Denver last Wednesday on a visit, not having heard of the death of his brother; four sisters, Mrs. J.H. Melvin, of Billings, Mont., Mrs. Geo. Foote, of Oakland, Neb., Edna, of Seattle, Wash., and Anna, who has made her home with Everett Fletcher since the death of her mother in infancy.

Dies In Frisco

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Emory received a telegram last week announcing the sudden death of their son, Frank, at San Francisco. No cause of death was given and up to the present time, the parents know no particulars regarding it. They immediately sent word to have the body prepared for shipment to Blair, expecting it to arrive here by last Sunday.

Frank was well known in Blair. He had served with Uncle Sam in the Phillippines for four years and was in the hospital corps at the Presido at the time of the earthquake in San Francisco. It was only a few weeks ago that Mr. Emory received a card from Frank saying that he was well and making good money and the telegram bearing the news of his death was an awful shock to the folks here.

Mr. and Mrs. George Foote came down from Oakland Saturday expecting that the body would arrive here so the funeral could be held Sunday, but Mr. Foote was compelled to go back to Oakland without paying the final tribute to the memory of his brother-in-law. Earl Emory, who has been gone for over a year returned to Blair last week, just in time to hear of his brother's death. His folks had not heard from him for a year and his coming home just at that time is somewhat queer.

The remains arrived in Blair Tuesday morning and the information coming with them was that Frank had died June 11th while being taken to the hospital and cause of death unknown. The report also stated that the remains had been held by the coroner for forty eight hours before being turned over to the undertaker.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 from the home of the parents on east Lincoln street, Elder Sayles officiating.
