Terrance D. Diggins Sr., 66

Terrance D. Diggins Sr., 66, of Plattsmouth, died at his home Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Sept. 11, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Logan, Iowa. Military honors were conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6256 of Logan and O’Hara-Seeley American Legion Post 612 of Magnolia, Iowa. Interment was in St. Bridget’s Cemetery near Magnolia.

Terrance Dominic Diggins was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Omaha to James and Margaret (Loftus) Diggins.

He graduated from Logan-Magnolia High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On Dec. 2, 1966, he married Sharon Nielsen in Papillion.

Mr. Diggins was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and he enjoyed playing pitch and reading.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Diggins of Magnolia; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Lori Diggins of Nebraska City, Terry Jr. and Donna of Omaha, Eric and Kristy Diggins of Weeping Water; daughter, Shaylene Diggins of Plattsmouth; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen and H.L. Hutcheson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Patricia Diggins and Ken Dunham of Dunlap, Iowa, Kathleen Diggins-Kane and Brian of Broome, Australia, and Mary Ann and Dave Zephier of Magnolia; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Lori Diggins of Blair, William and Morgan Diggins of Orono, Maine, and Michael Diggins of Magnolia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, on April 2, 2000; father, James; son, Adam, in 1976; and brother, Brian.

Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan was in charge of arrangements.

A Rosary will be said at 6pm Monday, with VISITATION to follow until 8opm at the Logan Memorial Chapel, Logan, IA. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL 10:30am Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Logan, IA. Final Resting Place, St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Magnolia, IA.

Note: Name: The Enterprise had him as Sr., the World-Herald as Jr., but within both papers it refers to his son as Terry Jr, so it seems the W-H made a typo which was corrected in the later publication. His father’s name was James Diggins.

Note: there are two St. Bridget’s Cemeteries in Iowa: one in Pottawattamie County and the other near Magnolia, in Harrison County. He was buried near Magnolia.
