Harvey Gehrk

Services for Harvey E. Gehrk, 59, of Omaha were held Monday, September 9, at the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle. The Rev. Thomas Stebbins officiated and burial was in the German Cemetery near Bennington, Nebraska.

Harvey was born July 13, 1926, in Fremont, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Hilda Gehrk. He attended school in Fremont, Kennard and Tekamah.

He farmed for his mother following the death of his father and he served in the Korean War.

He was formerly married to Clara Wehrbein. He was previously a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard and served on the Council and was also treasurer.

He was married to Marian Montgomery on April 12, 1969.

He was employed by Tip Top Corporation of Omaha where he worked for 29 years in the position of plant superintendent. He also farmed near Omaha.

He was a member of the Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; sister, Mrs. Marjorie Matzen of Kennard; nephews, George Matzen of Milford; Gerald Matzen of Blair; James Matzen of Kennard, and niece Mary Jorgensen of Blair.

Pallbearers were Gerald Matzen, James Matzen, Tony Matzen, Orman Meyer, Bob Nordstrom and Joel Sebek.

Honorary pallbearers were William Jorgensen, Lucky Mappes, George Matzen, Ivan McDowell, Charles Montgomery and Richard Schworm.
