Fatal Accident

On Friday last, at Wheaton, Ill., Mr. B. F. Sheely, well and favorably known in this community, where he had resided for 14 years up to about two years ago, was instantly killed by the cars. Mr. Sheely was 50 years old, and had been, until January last, at Syracuse, New York, but more recently was with a brother at or near the place of his unfortunate death. He was killed as many others are, by being on the tracks and stepping aside to get out of the way of one train and was struck by another on a near-by track. His daughter, Miss Fannie, living in a suburb of Chicago, was notified, and accompanied the remains of her father to this place for burial, arriving here Sunday morning, and the services were held in the Baptist church Sunday at 11 o’clock, Rev. Sheppard officiating.

Mr. Sheely was a brother to George Sheely of this county, who died some years ago. He leaves four children, Mrs. Jos. Lantry, of Blair, Miss Fannie of Chicago, one girl 14 and one boy 12 years of age who make their home with the married sister, Mrs. Lantry.

The wife and mother died here in Blair some ten years ago, and the sudden and unfortunate death of the father now doubly bereaves the children and should bring to them in this great affliction the earnest sympathy of all. Miss Fannie, who came with her father’s remains, is a bright, energetic girl, who took charge of the details of the trip and the interment with the pluck and good judgment of an experienced business man. After a visit for awhile she will return to her duties at her place of employment near Chicago.
