Death of Former Resident

Frank M. Emery, who will be remembered by many residents of this vicinity, died at his home in Rows, Ohio, the 1st of May, aged 76 years 7 months and 27 days, having been born in Ashland County, Ohio, September 4, 1835.

In 1862, Mr. Emery enlisted in Co. F 129 O.V.I., serving with that regiment until his capture while on the Red River Expedition, and was held a prisoner at Camp Ford, Texas, for thirteen months, after which he was paroled. On January 27, 1859, he was married to Lydia Artz and to this union one son was born. In 1871, they moved to Blair and lived here thirty-odd years, moving back to Ohio in 1904.

Mr. Emery is survived by a wife and son, one brother and a half sister. In 1855, he joined the Lutheran Church at Rowsburg, Ohio, and later was transferred to the Methodist Church of this city.

The funeral took place from the Methodist Church at Rowsburg, at 10 o'clock May 3rd, conducted by Rev. Hopkins, of Jeromeville, assisted by Rev. G. K. Maryland. The music was furnished by a male quartette from Ashland Tent K.O.T.M., of which the deceased was a charter member. The pallbearers were selected from among his old comrades, the remainder acting as an escort to the cemetery.
