John R. Warren, 62

John R. Warren, 62, of Blair, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at the NHS/University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Mr. Warren died, with his family by his side, following a brave battle with an extended illness.

Memorial services were Monday, June 10, at First Lutheran Church in Blair, with a private family service in Decatur. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur.

John Robert Warren was born Sept. 9, 1939, in rural Decatur to Sidney Leslie and Martha Mae (Thomas) Warren.

He grew up on a farm south of Decatur with his parents, sisters, Jean and Nona, and brother, Gary. He attended country school in Elm Creek before attending and graduating from Decatur High School in 1957.

On Aug. 8, 1959, he married La Dona Oltjenbruns of Lyons at First Lutheran Church in Oakland. The couple later moved to Tekamah.

In 1980, Mr. Warren went into business with Ed Prussa to form P & W, Inc., a fertilizer, ag-chemical and propane business. The men served farmers from Blair to Decatur until the sale of their business in 1999. They continued other business interests following the sale of P & W.

Mr. Warren enjoyed fishing, working outdoors and, most of all, his family and close friends.

He is survived by his wife, LaDona, of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Julie Warren of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Dan Dahlgren of Blair; five grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nona and Larry Kjeldgaard of Bancroft, and Jean and Gene Worley of Decatur; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Linda Warren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
