Martha Mae Warren, 86

Martha Mae Warren, 86, of Tekamah, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services were Friday, March 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur. The Rev. Brion P. Tolzman officiated.

Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur.

Pallbearers were John Warren, Jay Warren, Ned Kjeldgaard, Rob Warren, Ben Kjeldgaard, Joe Kjeldgaard, Chris Kjeldgaard, Mike Worley and Matt Worley.

Vocalist was Jerry French and organist was Peggy Haeffner.

Martha Mae Warren was born Aug. 23, 1912, to Walter Halbert and Martha Ellen (Simpson) Thomas in Tekamah.

She was a 1930 graduate of Riverside High School in rural Tekamah.

After earning a teaching certificate from Wayne State College, she taught school in rural Burt County.

On Feb. 10, 1933, she married Sidney Warren in Dakota City.

The couple farmed near Decatur and had four children.

In Decatur, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and LaDona Warren of Blair, and Gary and Linda Warren of Decatur, and Nona and Larry Kjeldgaard of Bancroft; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Minnie Miller of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Louise Blankenbeckler and husband, Howard, of Lyons, and Darlene Warren of Tekamah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who died in 1996; one sister; and two brothers.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
