Blanche D. Warrick 96, Died at Blair Hospital Friday

Mrs. Blanche D. Warrick, 96-year-old resident of Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, died at the Blair Hospital last Friday, March 12th.

She was a lifetime resident of Blair and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Peck, early-day pioneers of Blair and Washington County. She was born in Blair June 2, 1879, but a few months after the original lots of the City of Blair were platted.

As Blanche Peck, she was married to Neum Warrick in Blair on New Year’s Day, 1898. They became early-day farmers of the area. Her husband died on October 30, 1934.

She became the mother of fourteen children, all of whom are living and many in this immediate area.

Living in Blair are Manley, Norman, Amasa, Bryan, Willard and Harland Warrick, and Mrs. Beulah Messer. A son, Abraham lives at Kennard. Others are: Mrs. Loftia Stewart (Edith) of Enciuites, California; Mrs. Gertrude King, Mrs. R.W. McLees (Opal) and Mrs. James Browder (Gayle) all of San Diego, California. Mrs. William Bisbee (Margaret) lives at Arlington and a son Carol Warrick lives at Hoisington, Kansas.

In addition to the 14 children, Mrs. Warrick is survived by 51 grandchildren, 47 great-great grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 15th, at the First Baptist Church in Blair. The Rev. James Metzgar and Rev. Gary Warrick conducted the service. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Robert, Bradley, Tim, Larry and Willard Warrick, Jr. and Tom Bisbee.
