Claire Warrick Stroke Victim

Claire W. Warrick passed away at 1:12 p.m., Wednesday, the victim of a stroke which he suffered two days pervious.

He was employed at the Petersen & Haecker plant on night duty and had worked the night prior to the stroke, although for some time he had been troubled with a heart ailment. His death occurred at his home on East Colfax Street.

Deceased was born October 14, 1883, on the farm in Cuming City Township now occupied by John Compton. Here he grew to manhood and was educated in the school district.

His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Warrick, well-known to the early settlers of the county. Both parents passed on years ago and a brother, Lloyd of Silver City, New Mexico, is also dead. Claire being the last of the family to go.

On February 15, 1928, he was married to Arlene Reeves and the wife and a step-daughter, Maxine Reeves, are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and parent.

He was a member of the fire department for approximately twenty-five years and he had a host of friends who will miss him greatly. He had served for years on the police force and had been employed in other positions of trust.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19th, at 2:00 p.m. from the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating and interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Claire Warrick, Ex-Police Chief, Died Suddenly on Wednesday

Victim of a sudden stroke early yesterday, Claire Warrick, 59, former Blair police chief, died shortly after 1 p.m. at his home, 406 east Colfax. Although he had been ill last fall, he apparently had fully recovered, and was a work Tuesday night as usual as manager of the river yards electric plant of Petersen & Haecker, Ltd.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Campbell mortuary, the Rev. D. D. Kennedy of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Blair Cemetery.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Warrick, he was born north of Blair October 14, 1883, and was married February 15, 1928, to Arlene Reeves. He and Mrs. Warrick had noted their 15th wedding anniversary only the day before he was stricken.

Known to hundreds of Blairites as “Fat”, Mr. Warrick had held a number of positions during his many years here. He was once an electrician, later a railroad man. He formerly worked at the port of entry. He had belonged to the fire department for almost 25 years.

Mr. Warrick is survived by his wife; a step-daughter, Maxine Reeves; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gertrude C. Warrick of Silver City, New Mexico; and two nephews, Gilbert and Stuart Warrick. A brother, Lloyd, died in 1929.
