Florence Young, 95

Funeral services for Florence Young, 95, of Blair, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair. Mrs. Young died Thursday, April 11, at Crowell Home in Blair.

Florence J. Young was born Nov. 12, 1906, at California Junction, Iowa, to Franklin and Nellie (Crispin) Wilson. She graduated from Missouri Valley (Iowa) High School.

On March 1, 1923, she married John Young Sr. in Missouri Valley. The couple lived in Chadron until moving to Blair in 1938, where they owned and operated Young’s Café until 1956.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Gutschow; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Peggy Young, all of Blair, a son-in-law, Marshall Compton, brother, Harvey Wilson of Blair, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, daughter, Bette Compton, great-grandson, Jacob Niday, and a brother, Richard Wilson.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church or Crowell Memorial Home.
