Son-In-Law of Arlington Couple Died Suddenly

John D. Young, 50, assistant cashier at the First National Bank in Fremont died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at a Valentine hospital. Mr. Young was in Valentine on bank business. He was born Dec. 9, 1913, in Fremont, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. Tipton Young, and was a 1930 graduate of Fremont High School. Mr. Young attended Midland College two years.

He had been assistant cashier at the First National Bank for three years. Prior to that he operated the John Young gas and oil business for 24 years.

Mr. Young was treasurer of the Dodge County Red Cross, member of the YMCA Board, past president of the Venture Club, member of the board of Fremont Credit Association, on the board of directors of Marshall Nurseries, member of Elks Club, American Legion, American Institute of Banking, the Congregational Church, and a former member of Rotary Club, board of deacons of the church and Chamber of Commerce.

He served four years in the Air Force in Japan and the Philippine Islands in World War II.

Survivors include his widow, Elizabeth; a son, James Marshall, stationed in Korea with the Army; and a sister, Mrs. John (Jean) Teasdale, Jr., of Fullerton, Calif.

Services for John D. Young, 5, were held Saturday at First Congregational Church in Fremont, with Rev. Albert C. Becker officiating.

Mr. Young was the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Marshall of Arlington.
