GWEN M. LAUGHERY, 58

Gwen M. Laughery, 58, of Blair, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Services were Monday, June 14, at First Lutheran Church, with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

Gwen Marie Petersen was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Stromsburg, to Arnold and Arvella (Steele) Petersen.

She was a teacher for more than 30 years in the Blair Public Schools and, most recently, for Omaha Public Schools at Fontanelle Elementary. She dedicated her time not only in the classroom but also as a volleyball coach, play director and mentor for the Destination Imagination program.

Ms. Laughery was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, coach, mentor, teacher and friend.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and T.J. Folkers; daughter, Beth Laughery; grandson, Collin; mother and step-father, Arvella and Marvin Schuman; brother and sister-in-law, Kelly and Cindy Petersen; three nieces; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold and grandparents.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES 10:30 am Monday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial at Blair Cemetery.

VISITATION starting 12 pm Sunday, with the family receiving friends 4 – 7 pm.
