MRS. MARGARET ZIEGLER DIES

Hannah Margaret Petersen was born November 18, 1873 in Moon Island, Denmark, and at the age of six came with her parents and family to this country, settling in this county in the Spiker community. Here she grew to womanhood and was educated in the Vacoma school.

On December 31, 1891 she was married to Julius Ziegler at Schuyler where they resided for eight years. To them six daughters and two sons were born. Following a few years on a farm near Herman in 1899 the family moved to Rose Hill in 1901 where they lived until 1912 when they purchased a farm near Calhoun. Due to Mr. Ziegler’s failing health, the family moved to Blair in December of 1915, and here Mrs. Ziegler lived until her death at her home on East Grant St. on June 11, 1948. The husband passed on December 12, 1925.

Mrs. Ziegler was a woman of sterling quality. She was one of those who placed her home first. Her children were her life and she was a mother of rare quality, and it goes without saying that she will leave a place that cannot be filled.

There survives her passing six daughters: Mrs. Minnie Jessen, Omaha; Mrs. Mattie Hunt and Miss Marguerite, both of Blair; Mrs. Julie Ackerman, Herman; Mrs. Emma Martin, Altoona, Iowa and Mrs. Louise Gummus of Stanton, Nebraska; one son, William of Blair; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Weber, Tekamah and Mrs. Emma Rogert of Blair; one brother, J. P. Petersen, Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Also seven grandchildren and numerous friends. One son, Julius, Jr. preceded his mother in death in 1904.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Methodist church, and interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
