Funeral services were Sunday, August 21, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for Jeffrey Ray Zimmer, 39, who died August 18, 1995, at his home in Sioux Falls after a long battle with cancer.

Jeffrey Ray Zimmer was born April 1, 1956, in Sioux Falls. He moved to Harlan, Iowa, in 1973 where he graduated from Harlan Community High School.

He served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1974 to 1980.

He moved to Omaha in 1980 where he was employed as a surgical technician.

He graduated from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha as a physician assistant in 1986 and accepted a position with Midwest Orthopedic Center in Sioux Falls. He was a PA there until 1988 when he went to Central Plains Clinic. He worked there until 1991 when he returned to Midwest Orthopedic Center to work with Dr. Gail Benson.

He married Mary Stewart November 5, 1983, in Blair.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Ann Zimmer.

He is survived by his wife, Marcy; a six-year-old son, Matthew; his parents, Ray and Ethel Zimmer of Omaha; brothers, Jack and Dan, Omaha; Larry, Sioux Falls; Rick of Portland, Oregon, and Greg of Valpariso, Indiana; sisters, Kathy Baldwin, Sioux Falls; Terri Beck of Ames, Iowa, and Lisa Blankman, Omaha, and nieces and nephews.

Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls was in charge of arrangements.
