Services for R. D. Zimmerman, Sr., 86, who died September 5, 1992, at Memorial Community Hospital were Wednesday, September 9, at the First United Methodist Church with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Richard D. Zimmerman Sr. was born on May 10, 1906, at Kearney, Nebraska, to George and Pearl Prather Zimmerman. He was raised in Kearney and attended school at Kearney.

In 1936, he married Marcella Ehernberger at Grand Island, Nebraska. They lived in Grand Island and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, working for Nielsen and Petersen Trucking and Denver-Chicago, prior to moving to Blair in 1941.

In 1945, he became co-owner of the Fairway Trucking Company. They later purchase the Blair Transfer and owned the company until retiring in 1971.

He was a member of the Blair Odd Fellows, Blair Golf Club and First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella; one son, R. D. Zimmerman, Jr., Blair; two daughters, Marcelyn Lund, Harlan, Iowa, and Joyce (Mrs. Paul) Robinson, Grand Rapids, Michigan; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, June Zoffka, Kearney, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
