Word was received this morning of the death of Andrew Anderson, Sr., at the home of his son, Andrew Anderson, Jr., near Pender. The body will be brought here tomorrow on the 10:55 train and the funeral will be held at 2 o'clock at the residence of Miss Josephine Johnson. He was 83 years of age and is the last of a noted family of pioneers, of which the late Mrs. Watson Tyson, Sr., was a member. He leaves two sons, Andrew, of Pender, and Ole, of this city, and two daughters, Mrs. John Gannon, of Pender, and Mrs. S. Seth, of Alberquerque, N.M.

The funeral of Andrew Anderson, whose death occurred near Pender last Tuesday, was held at the residence of Miss Josephine Johnson in this city at 2 o'clock Thursday, Rev. C.P. Lang officiating. Mr. Anderson was born in Norway, Oct. 14, 1826, and was therefore past 84 years of age. He came to this county in 1874, settling upon York Creek. Shortly before the Herman cyclone he moved to Herman and his wife was killed in the cyclone and his home was destroyed utterly. In recent years he has been living around with his children, Ole, of this city, Andrew and Mrs. John Gannon, of Pender, and Mrs. S. Seth, of Albuquerque, N.M. He was one of the noted family of seven, all of whom lived to be past 70, and all but one, Mrs. George Tyson, were pioneer settlers in the county. She died at the age of 81, Mrs. Watson Tyson, sr., at 73, Mrs. Martin Peterson at 76, Mrs. Peter Johnson at 84, Lewis Anderson at 89 and Soren Anderson at 87.
