Leona I. Thone, 84, of Blair died at Memorial Community Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2012.

Services were Friday, September 21, at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Leona Irene Christensen was born on September 14, 1928, at Kennard to Nels and Carrie (Matzen) Christensen.

She attended the McCarthy School. After her graduation from Blair High School, she attended Dana College.

In May of 1950, she married James O. Thone in Blair.

She served as his office secretary for a number of years, until she dedicated her time to the raising of their children.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and volunteered many hours to quilting for the church.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Don Jensen of Blair and Lisa and Gary Bowser of Fort Calhoun; sons, Dennis and Brent, both of Blair, John and Frederick of Colorado; four granddaughters; three great- grandchildren; brothers, James Christensen of Glenwood, Iowa, and Milo and wife, Beverly, Christensen of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James Thone in 1999.
