JAMES C. WILLIBY, 83

James C. Williby, 83, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

James Calvin Williby was born April 15, 1917, to William and Bertha (Nielsen) Williby at Royal. He attended school in Royal.

Mr. Williby entered the Army in February, 1942, and served in World War II in the European Theater until 1945.

On Dec. 29, 1943, he married Fae Everhart in Blair.

Mr. Williby was a long-time Blair businessman, and operated “Jim’s Phillips 66” service station for more than 20 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post No. 1251, and the American Legion.

For the past 20 years, Mr. and Mrs. Williby enjoyed wintering in Arizona. He also enjoyed selling watermelons each summer at his station, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

He is survived by his wife, Fae; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Nancy Williby of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Nick Wood of Lincoln; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Lena Mae Williby of Blair; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Jack Backman of Blair; sisters, Alice Hibbs of Blair, Marveline Eggison of Portland, Ore., brother-in-law, Harold Smith of Blair; two sisters-in-law, Daisy (Mrs. Lyle) Williby of Blair and Ardith Reinke of Neligh, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herb, Lyle and Glen and two sisters, Delores Smith and an infant sister.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church in Blair, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
