KAI KASTRUP, 83

Funeral services for Kai Kastrup, 83, of Blair, were held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery. Mr. Kastrup died on Monday, June 20, at Crowell Memorial Home.

Kai Kastrup was born Sept. 29, 1951(??-unreadable), in Fyn, Denmark, to Edmund and Karen (Andersen) Kastrup. He came to the United States when he was a 6 months old. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He grew up in Laurel.

On Nov. 2, 1943, he married Mabel Most in Papillion. They moved to Blair in 1944. He farmed and later did construction before becoming a salesman of Ford Motor products.

He was a member of the original group who started the Blair Youth Sports Complex. He was involved in fund-raising, serving as president of the Little League, and president of the trustees. He was chosen Volunteer of the Year for his fund-raising efforts for the Little League and later raised money for the Legion teams, as long as his health permitted.

For years, he volunteered for Memorial Community Hospital’s big rummage sale, earning a co-share of the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Danish Brotherhood, and the Eagle’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Clark of Logan, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Kastrup of Blair; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thorkild of Rushkin, Borge and Carol of Laurel, Leo and Bonna Del of Elk Point, S.D., Robert and Julie of Hartington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Robert Kenaley of LeMars, Iowa; and Elsie Nielsen of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kim; sister, Ruth Kastrup; and brother, Carlo.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
