Mrs. John Taylor, Resident Here 55 Years, Is Dead

Funeral Rites Wednesday Marks Passing Of Early Settler

Mrs. John Taylor, who for about fifty-five years was a resident of Blair, passed away Sunday night at nearly midnight at the state hospital.

Deceased was born in Indiana in 1859 where she grew to womanhood. After her marriage to John Taylor, now deceased, she came to Iowa and later to Omaha and about fifty-five years ago the family moved to Blair.

The husband died two years ago. Three sons, Frank, of Blair and Lee and Walter of Omaha are left to mourn besides seven grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were active members of the local Christian church and will be remembered by many Blair people.

Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. T. A. Lindenmeyer officiating and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Widow of John E. Taylor Had Been Failing Since A Fall In December

Mrs. Nancy Ann Taylor, 81, widow of John E. Taylor and a resident of Blair more than half a century, died late Sunday at Norfolk. She had been in failing health since shortly before the recent holidays, when she fell and fractured her hip.

Nancy Ann McDaniel, daughter of William and Sarah McDaniel, was born October 8, 1859, in Indiana, and as an infant when to Bedford, Iowa, with her parents, where she spent her girlhood. She was married there in 1876 to John E. Taylor.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor moved to Omaha in 1877, and came to Blair in the fall of 1884. Mr. Taylor died March 24, 1937.

While in Blair, Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Church of Christ and of the Women’s Relief Corps.

She is survived by three sons, Frank Taylor of Blair, and Lee and Walter Taylor of Omaha; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell mortuary yesterday at 2 p.m., the Rev. T. A. Lindenmeyer of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in Blair cemetery.
