Duane D. Pritzel, 77

Washington County native Duane D. Pritzel, 77, died Aug. 2, 2010, in Casper, Wyo.

A memorial service was held Aug. 13. Interment was in the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, and military honors were provided by members of the Natrona County United Veterans Council and Wyoming National Guard.

Duane Dale Pritzel was born Feb. 16, 1933, at the family farm in Washington County, to Henry and Ethel (Barton) Pritzel.

He graduated from Hooper High School in 1950 and entered the Army in 1953 at Fort Omaha.

He married Carol Knudson in 1953 at Fontanelle. The couple had three children.

Following his discharge from the Army in 1955, he moved his family to Englewood, Colo. In 1971, they moved to Casper, Wyo., to continue his 25 years as a machinist with General Electric Company. He also worked several years for Lufkin Industries in Casper.

He married Donna Lee Bradshaw-Nielsen in Sturgis, S.D., in 1977 and gained three more children.

Mr. Pritzel was a member of the American Legion George W. Vroman Post #2 at Casper. He still carried membership in the Retreads Motorcycle Club, and rode with the Wyoming Road Riders. In 1976, he became a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He attended the First Baptist Church at Brackettville, Texas.

While in Casper, he attended Highland Park Community Church and Sunrise Baptist Church.

His interests included motorcycles, gardening, photography, reading, American West history, and making things in his shop.

Mr. and Mrs. Pritzel became "Winter Texans" in 2003, living at historic Fort Clark near Brackettville, Texas.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Eldon Pritzel of Englewood, Colo,; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sher Pritzel of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Linda Korman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cynthia Korman of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; three stepdaughters, Echo Bale of Casper, Dawn and Kemp Terry, and Teddi and Randy Bauer of River Fall, Wis.; six step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; ex-wife, Carol Pritzel of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil; and a step-great-grandson.
