Catherine L. Wehnes, 85

Funeral services for Catherine L. Wehnes, 85, of Blair, were held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the Congregational Church (UCC) of Blair. Interment was in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Mrs. Wehnes died Monday, Sept. 29, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Catherine Wehnes was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Queens, N.Y., to Gustave and Anna (Kraverath) Heuer. She grew up in Queens and lived in Dover Plains, N.Y., before moving to Nebraska. She had worked as a hospital nurse.

In November 11937, she married Richard Munch at Middle Village, N.Y. He died in 1963. On Feb. 19, 1882, she married Frederick Wehnes in Pleasant Valley, N.Y.

Mrs. Wehnes loved the ocean and especially loved lighthouses. She had a collection of lighthouses in her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Marshall of Fountain Valley, Calif., sons and daughters-in-law, George Munch of Brooklyn, N.Y., Richard and Barbara Munch of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Robert and Theresa Munch of Copiague, N.Y., seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
