Harry Engelbrecht Died Last Saturday

Harry F. Engelbrecht died at an Omaha hospital last Saturday noon following an illness of two months. He was the son of Franz and Anna Engelbrecht and was born at Remsen, Iowa, on October 24, 1894. He enlisted in the Armed Forces during World War I and served for nearly nineteen months, most of which time was spent overseas.

On September 15, 1927, he was united in marriage with Hilda Behmer at Hartley, Iowa, and shortly thereafter they moved to Omaha where Mr. Engelbrecht was connected with the Carter Sheet Metal Works for twenty years as a sheetmetal worker and designer. In 1947, they moved to Blair where he served as a designer and superintendent for the Kelly Ryan firm until he went into retirement. For the past five years he has been connected with the Blair Bowling Lanes. He was long known as a master craftsman in the steel industry in the Omaha area and his counsel was often sought by various firms.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the VFW and the American Legion.

Surviving him are his wife, Hilda; five sisters, Mrs. Celia Mews, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mrs. Emma Mews, Colton, South Dakota, Mrs. Hilda Thode, Salem, South Dakota, Mrs. Nora Entenmann, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Mrs. Anna Wagner, Bridgewater, South Dakota. A number of nieces and nephews also survive him.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Westadt officiating. Burial was in the Blair cemetery.

Pallbearers were: John R. Foley, R. D. Zimmerman Jr., Kelly Ryan, Wm. Vogt, Wilbur Lowe, and Al Sick.
