Shirley M. Weis, 76

Shirley Mae Weis, 76, died Nov. 18, 2005, at her home in New Ulm, Minn. A funeral mass was held Nov. 23 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with interment in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Shirley Mae Meyer was born April 19, 1929, in Springfield, Minn., to Lars and Lillian (Puck) Meyer. She was a 1946 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business in Mankato.

On Jan. 13, 1951, she married John Weis in Redwood Falls.

Mrs. Weis worked as a social worker for Brown County Family Services for 17 years until she retired. She then worked part time at Thayer Publishing for the past eight years. She enjoyed the theater, crossword puzzles, reading, camping and the outdoors. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Habitat for Humanity, and the New Ulm Human Right Commission.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and David Kaslon of Blair, Penny Lieder of New Ulm, Terri and Gordon Rogers of North Mankato, Minn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Debra Weis of Peru, Ill., Paul Weis of New ULm; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Christianson.
