Olive Welter, 91

Services for Olive Zeiner Welter, 91, who died July 10, 1994 at her home in Nebraska City were Thursday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City. Rev. Steve Major officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Paul.

Olive Zeiner Welter was born October 1, 1902 to Joseph and Rosalie Gillick Zeiner in rural Nebraska City. She married Bill E. Welter July 19, 1921 at St. Joseph’s Church in Paul.

They lived in Blair from 1933 until 1958. They operated a filling station and cabin at 13th and Washington Street prior to moving to Arizona.

They also lived in Tucson, Arizona and moved to Nebraska City in 1970.

She was a nurse’s aid and also did housekeeping at various hospitals.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the Legion of Mary.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Helen Gress, Mary Gress and Emma Brandt and brothers Carl Zeiner and John Zeiner.

She is survived by a sister, Philomena (Mrs. Carl) Schnitzer of Nebraska City; brothers, George of Nebraska City and Mike of Grand Island, Nebraska; a niece and nephew, Lois and Bernard Gress and their family of Nebraska City.

Pallbearers were Mike Cooper, Michael Gress, Darin Gress, Kyle Gress, Jose Aldana and James Allen.

Gude Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
