Mrs. Harry Engelbrecht Died Here Monday

Mrs. Harry Engelbrecht, well known Blair woman of west Lincoln Street, died at Community Memorial Hospital Monday, December 22nd, after a brief illness. She had become ill while at the Courthouse late last week and had been taken to the hospital by the Blair Rescue Squad for treatment.

Mrs. Engelbrecht's maiden name was Hilda Behmer and she was born at Sutherland, Iowa, June 8, 1897. She was 72 years of age at the time of her death.

She grew up in Sutherland and on September 15, 1927, she married Harry F. Engelbrecht there. The couple lived in Omaha for a time and moved to Blair in 1947. They have made this their home since that date.

She was preceded in death by her husband in May, 1965. After his death she continued to make her home at 2218 Lincoln Street where they had lived since coming to Blair.

Her parents, three brothers and a sister had all preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sisters-in-law, three nephews and several nieces.

Mrs. Engelbrecht was very active in organizations of the community. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, The American Legion Auxiliary, World War I Barracks Auxiliary 1096, the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist Church and others. She did volunteer work at Veteran's Hospital in Omaha and helped in many local projects and endeavors.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Atherton conducting the services. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers were William Vogt, Wilbur Lowe, Kelly Ryan, John Foley, Richard Zimmerman, Jr., all of Blair, and C.M. Farquhar, of Omaha.
