FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT IS BURIED SATURDAY

Funeral services were Saturday, November 15, for Charles Lazure, 96, who died Thursday at an Omaha hospital of heart faiure. The services were held at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Charles Lazure was born in a log cabin south of Blair. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Agriculture College and worked in corn genetics for 80 years.

He was a member of the Omaha Walking Club. He began joining 20 mile hikes for the March of Dimes when he was 85 years old and continued those hikes until he was 95.

He is survived by four sons, Bazil, John, Charles and Philip; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
