Franz Ulrich who has lived the life of a hermit for a number of years north of G. Hartungs in the oak timber, was found dead in his shack by Gottlieb Hartung, he having been cared for in his late illness by Mr. and Mrs. Hartung. He was an eccentric character having very pronounced views of his own and was possessed of a splendid education which he obtained in the fatherland, having immigrated from Europe some 35 years ago with his wife who died a number of years ago. He had provided for all his funeral expenses and had his casket partly made by himself in the woodshed, which only needed assembling and it was his request that he be buried in the same. He was buried in the old Oakland cemetery beside his wife Wednesday. He leaves no surviving known relatives. He was about 70 years old. Let us hope after life’s tempestuous battle he has reached a better land where sorrows are unknown.
