Cary H. Utterback

Cary H. Utterback was born at Crawfordsville, Indiana, Feb. 4, 1855, where he grew to manhood.

He was married in 1882 and for a number of years resided in Illinois where their two oldest children were born.

In the late 80’s he came to Nebraska where two more children were born. Blair was their home for a number of years, but in the spring of 1908 he moved with his family to Montana where he took a homestead on which he has resided since that time.

He has been in poor health for some time. Old age coupled with a weak heart had been sapping his vitality and he had been in a weakened condition for years. He, with his wife and youngest son, made a trip by auto from their Montana home by way of Blair to Indiana, a few years ago and this was the only time he has been in Blair since going to Montana.

His death was not unexpected and on the third day of July he passed away. He was buried in Montana, the state of his adoption. The funeral services were conducted by the Masonic order of which he was a member.

He leaves to mourn him his wife, three sons, Claude, Howard and Roland and one daughter, Mrs. Estelle Purdum, and three grandchildren besides three brothers, one in Texas, one in Kansas, one in Indiana and a sister, Mrs. John Landis, of Calhoun, Nebraska.
