Memorial services were held Saturday, January 6 in Seattle, Washington for Rufus M. Vaage, 73 who died December 30, 1995 at Seattle.

Rufus M. Vaage was born May 24, 1922 at Newman Grove, Nebraska. He graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1939 and attended the University of Nebraska.

He served in Europe with the 36th Infantry Division in World War II and received the Silver Star for gallantry in action.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Richard Vaage and a brother, Vernon.

He is survived by his wife, Juliana, Seattle; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen of Denver, Colorado and Mary Jo and John Shiner of Seattle; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arlene Schurr of Norfolk, Nebraska and Janice and C. N. “Bud” Robinson of Blair and several nieces and nephews.
