Grace Vahle, 81

Funeral services for Grace Vahle, age 81 of Blair, who died August 25, 1992 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney were Friday, August 28 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Grace Vahle was born January 29, 1911 on her home farm two miles east and two miles north of the original Republican City, Nebraska. Her parents were David and Etta Jane Hunter.

She attended District 21 rural school and graduated from the normal training course at Republican City High School in 1929.

She taught a rural school south of Orleans, Nebraska. Later she graduated from the secretarial course at the Lincoln School of Commerce and worked as a secretary at the Bankers Life Insurance Company of Nebraska until her marriage to Paul Vahle on May 10, 1942.

While he was stationed near Denver, Colorado, and also in England during World War II, she worked for an insurance company in Denver. Following the war, they lived in Scottsbluff and Omaha until moving to their farm near Blair. On July 17, 1992, she moved to the Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska, so that she would be closer to some of her family.

She was baptized in the Methodist Church at the original Republican City, Nebraska, around the age of ten. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in August, 1981; twin infant sons, Paul, Jr. and Jimmy; her parents, four brothers; Delvin, Naaman, Andrew and Howard and one sister, Lillie Hunter.

She is survived by four sons and their families, Edward and Sherida of Beaver City, Nebraska; Daniel andDebra of Johnson, Nebraska; Robert and Laura of Green Valley, California; John and Joyce and children Rebecca, Ruth and Richard of Lincoln, Nebraska; William and Cheryl and children Jeremy, Tony and Sara of Colorado Springs, Colorado. One sister, Sarah Hunter, of Republican City also survives her.

Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of her arrangements.
