Dr. Eugene M. Hauck, 33

Dr. Eugene M. Hauck, 33, of University Heights, Ohio, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, as the result of a single-vehicle motorcycle accident.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, in the Cross Garden at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2323 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, Tenn. Visitation with the family will follow the service.

Eugene Murphy "Gene" Hauck was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., and grew up in Sumrall, Miss.

He attended the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

On June 2, 2001, he was united in marriage to Valorie Sites of Holdrege. He transferred to the University of Minnesota where he received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering in 2002. In 2007, he received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical School. From 2007 through 2012, he practiced medicine as a general surgery resident at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio where he was known for his exceptional patient care and compassion. Hewas often found playing his guitar at the bedside of his patients.

Most recently, he was preparing to embark on a medical mission adventure with his wife, Valorie, a midwife, and family in Pignon, Haiti. He was to be affiliated with Hosean International Ministries and working with Dr. Theodore Guy in the hospital he established there.

He was an avid outdoorsman, guitarist, videographer and motorcyclist. He loved his wife and children in an extraordinary way. He recently rededicated his life to the Lord, his family and faith.

He prided himself on being a loving father, husband, brother and son. His charisma and zest for life will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Valorie; children, Ella Grace, Riley and Kayleb; his parents, Dawn and Harold Parker of Sumrall and Christie and Melissa Hauck of College Grove, Tenn.; sisters and brother-in-law, Tatum Hauck Allsep and Michael of Montgomery, Ala., and Sarah Helen Parker of Nashville; his brothers and sister-in-law, Read Hauck and Noel and Heather Glasgow, all of Nashville; grandparents, Joseph and Virginia Tatum of Hattiesburg and Lucy Parker of Sumrall; parents-in-law, Dave and Anita Sites of Blair; brothers-in-law and spouses, Brent and Valerie and Loren and Elisha Sites of Colorado; sister-in-law and spouse, Rhonda and Dr. Garret Shaw of Blair; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Allen Eugene Hauck and grandmother, Lady Jean Tatum.
