M. LaVonne Wertz, 67, of Logan, Iowa, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Services were Wednesday, March 3, at Methodist Church in Logan, Iowa. Pastor Kathy Kluis officiated.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Logan.

Pallbearers were Jerry Sherer, Dwight Willard, Darrell Fahrenkrog, Jack McMillen, Don Dickinson and Robert Dickinson.

M. LaVonne Wertz was born Nov. 1, 1931, to Clarence and Ethel Flora (Parrack) Benson in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and worked at Harvey Brothers Clothing Store in Logan, Iowa, for several years.

On Jan. 28, 1970, she married LaVern S. Wertz in Logan, Iowa.

She enjoyed bowling, card clubs, big club and the little club.

She is survived by her husband, LaVern of Logan, Iowa; daughters, Kathy Petersen and husband, Bill, of Blair, and Jean Lujan of Morseville, N.C.; brother, Bill Benson and wife, Lori, of Woodbine, Iowa; sister, Sally Davis and husband, Bob, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-children, Larry Wertz and wife, Joni, of Birchwood, Wisc.; daughter, Vicky (Wertz) Ettleman and husband, Tim, of Longmont, Colo.; Melody, of Clinton, Mo., Mike Wertz and wife, Sharon, of Franktown, Colo.; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Albert Foutch.
