Funeral Services Are Held For Lucille Wesemann

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington for Lucille Irene Wesemann, who died Friday, August 21, 1981, at the age of 61.

Rev. Norman Schroeder conducted the services. Burial was in the German Cemetery.

Lucille Irene Wesemann was born April 12, 1920, at Elkhorn to Herman and Bertha Labs Peterson. She received her education at Elkhorn.

On October 21, 1948, she was married to Albert Wesemann at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. They established themselves in farming on the Wesemann home place, where her husband was born. They continued to work and live together for almost 33 years.

She was baptized in the Christian faith and she confirmed that faith April 14, 1935, at Bethany Lutheran Church of Elkhorn. She became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church November 21, 1949.

About three years ago, she suffered a stroke. She was handicapped as a result but continued to be as active as possible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Bertha Peterson; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Klabunde and Mrs. Amanda Coates; and one brother, Ferdinand Peterson.

She is survived by her devoted widower, Albert Wesemann, of Kennard; and their children, Irene (Mrs. Richard) Kenkel of Bennington; Michael Wesemann of Bennington; the twins, Jerry Wesemann of Arlington and Jean Wesemann of Washington, Nebraska, and Judith (Mrs. Merle) Holling of Arlington. One grand-daughter, Lindsay Marie Wesemann of Bennington; six sisters, Clara (Mrs. Fred) Labs of Elkhorn; Hildegard (Mrs. Paul) Wamsat of Elkhorn; Alvina (Mrs. Henry) Benke of Elkhorn; Erma (Mrs Frank) Acker of Fremont; Bertha (Mrs. Tom) Wilkenson of Sturgis, South Dakota; and Alma (Mrs. Russell) Boyle of Uehling, Nebraska; two brothers, Henry Peterson of Omaha and Erwin Peterson of Elkhorn; and other relatives and many friends.

Casket bearers were Lyle Sass, Gordon Buesing, Gerald Buesing, Donald Schumacher, Fred Whitesel and Fred Schumacher, Jr.

Miriam Sukraw was organist. Roy Dean Eipperle sang “Rock of Ages” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
