Ludwig D. Wesemann, 93

Ludwig D. Wesemann, 93, died at his home in Kennard on Saturday, Aug 11, 2001.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. The Rev. Sacia Vik will officiate. Interment will be at Hollst Lawn Cemetery in Yutan.

Ludwig D. “Louis” Wesemann was born June 8, 1908, on the family farm near Kennard to Henry and Anna (Mueller) Wesemann, the second oldest of 14 children. He grew up on the farm, and attended Peaceful Hill Country School. From an early age, he showed an interest in motors and automobiles. He spent his young adult years farming and was called to military service at the end of World War II, but the war ended before he could be inducted.

On Feb. 16, 1947, he married Arlene Schneider. The couple raised their four children on the farm, where Mr. Wesemann continued his life-long labor of love-farming. He enjoyed dancing with his wife at the German Hall and repairing antique clocks. His family remembers him as a loving father and devoted husband.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and JoAnn Wesemann of Kennard, daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Bob Meier of West Point, Lillian Wesemann of Omaha, and Betty and Kim Johnson of Tekamah, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a brother, Elmer Wesemann of Blair, sisters, Ella Rohwer of Omaha, Anita Lauritsen of Blair, and Wanda Grebe of Tekamah. He was preceded in death by his wife and nine siblings.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Hadan Golden Reichmuth Funeral Home in Bennington was in charge of arrangements.
