Mrs. Mahala Van Brunt died at her home in the city Saturday evening, after an illness of but a few days.

Mahala Stainbrook was born in Wisconsin, June 30, 1855, and was married to Mr. Van Brunt in January 1873. They moved to South Dakota, living in Parkston for nearly a quarter of a century, afterwards moving to Vermillion, where they resided for seven years. They moved to Blair four years ago.

She was the mother of one son and one daughter, the son dying in Dakota. Two grand daughters, Agnes and Hattie Mayhew, who reside with the grandparents.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday at 2 p.m., Rev. F. M. Sturdevant in charge, and the body taken to Vermillion, So. Dak. Tuesday morning for interment, and was accompanied by Mr. Van Brunt and Rev. Stansbury.
