LaVerne VanCleave, 84

Services for LaVerne E. VanCleave, 84 of West Point who died April 16, 1995 at her home in West Point were Wednesday, April 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Rev. Gary Ostrander officiated. Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery at West Point.

LaVerne E. Murray was born March 10, 1911 at West Point. She graduated from Guardian Angels High School in West Point in 1929.

She was a lifetime resident of West Point and had worked at the former Campbell’s Soup Co. in Fremont before retiring in 1976.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the church guild, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters, was a member of Cuming County Historical Society, Eastern Nebraska Genealogical Society, Good Life Club, Fabulous 55 Club and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 762, all of West Point.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Clark of Lancaster, Ohio and Geraldine Crom of Castleberry, Florida; two sons, Gordon of Roger River, Oregon and Jim of West Point; a sister Lucille Thomsen of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Lyle of Omaha and Leonard of Arlington; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ben Stalp Funeral Home in West Point was in charge.
